Root Stump Removal

What is root stump removal?
A root stump is the part of a tooth's root that remains in the jaw after the crown has broken away from decay or injury, or after an incomplete extraction. Root stumps can cause pain, swelling, repeated infection, bad breath and bone damage, and they prevent proper tooth replacement. At Urja Dental Clinic in Phase 3B2, Mohali, our MDS oral surgeon Dr. Prachi removes root stumps gently under local anaesthesia, using X-ray planning to minimise damage to the surrounding bone. Where suitable, socket preservation can be done to prepare for a future implant. If a root can be saved with a root canal and post-and-core, we'll discuss that option first.
